Weekly Photo Challenge: Future Tense

23 03 2013

This week, we capture a moment in time. Something that holds the promise or portent of the future.  I was reminded of this photo I took when leaving Perth, prior to our move to the Northern Territory.  It’s a moment in time – so many things to look forward to, so many things being left behind.  I had no idea then what the future would hold.  I’m still not sure.  But that’s what risks are all about.

Good bye

Good bye

Miksang revisited

12 03 2013

This week I thought I’d revisit the world of Miksang or “contemplative photography“.  Rather than offer a single shot, here is a showcase of my miksang images.  Each presents its own character, but in a block format it’s something quite different again.

For more on my approach to Miksang, check out my other posts here.

Weekly Photo Challenge: My Neighbourhood

9 03 2013

We recently moved to Darwin, the capital city of the Northern Territory of Australia.  It’s pretty isolated and has as population of only about 120, 000.  Here are a few shots from my usual day.  A journey in to work is relatively easy as the traffic “jam” here is like a quiet Sunday drive in my former city.  The weather is overcast at present – it is the monsoon season so it is very humid with afternoon rain storms that dump rain and relieve the sticky heat.

Weekly Photo Challenge: Lost in the Details

3 03 2013

Find a subject and work into it a bit more – get lost in the details.  This is a fantastic sculpture at a local primary school in Darwin.  It is a giant fish (Barramundi) and is completed with mosaics.  I stopped and took some pics of this Giant Barra’ and was captured by the detail.

The Barramundi is found in Northern Australian waters is highly prized.  Virtually each fish is born male and then becomes female some three to four years later!
