Weekly Photo Challenge: Indulge

26 02 2012

This week’s photo challenge from WordPress is Indulge. Participants are asked to depict the weekly theme via a photo. To get involved visit The Daily Post here.

Yesterday we took some time out to sit by the river. The scorching heat has relented so it was comfortable to be outside. We found some deep shade and watched the world go by while enjoying an iced coffee, some chocolate and listening to a cricket match on the radio. We saw cyclists, birds, people barbecuing, water bikes and boats.

The real indulgence for me was to take my sketch book and be able to sit in the fresh air and sketch, noticing shapes, tones, patterns and feeling them wiggle off the end of my pen. It felt even more indulgent because we’d left all the chores at home, unfinished.

Thanks Cee, it was indeed. Peaceful and nourishing. I always feel refreshed after a time by the water.

Looks lovely, I have just ‘indulged’ in a wee nap on the sofa, while the kids careened around the neighbourhood on bikes. I have a good friend who has just moved to Perth, from Christchurch, mostly spurred on by the earthquakes, so I am enjoying your photos of home for that reason too.

How lovely, and definitely healthily indulgent. Sounds like your desperate need is for cool and shade. My indulgence this weekend is to get out into our warming, spring sunshine. Embrace the seasons wherever you are!

Yes, I don’t do it often enough. It is very relaxing and helps me get out of my head for a while. I’m going to make more time to do this during the year.
